2017 Has Been GREAT!
We are nearly three quarters of the way through 2017 and I'm so excited to tell all of you about what I've been up to with my music!
Earlier this year, I had an opportunity to attend an amazing event honoring my friend and country music legend Randy Travis. A Heroes and Friends Tribute Concert took place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and Randy was kind enough to allow me back stage. I was able to meet and speak with artists ranging from Garth Brooks to Alabama to Kenny Rogers. I've said this many times on social media but I'm going to say it again: I will always be eternally grateful for Randy and how he has treated me like family over the years.
I've spent a lot of time working on writing new songs, which has included weekly songwriting lessons with hit songwriters, Clay Mills and Marty Dodson. You might not recognize their names but you will surely recognize their work: Clay co-wrote Don't Think I Don't Think About It for Darius Rucker and Beautiful Mess for Diamond Rio while Marty wrote Must Be Doing Something Right for Billy Currington and Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven for Kenny Chesney. Together, they founded a company called Songtown that mentors and trains aspiring songwriters, and both Clay and Marty have been invaluable in my growth as a songwriter.
I'm hoping to release some of the new singles in 2018. Even though I'm keeping busy with songwriting lessons and my regular activities and studies at school, I'm still in the process of planning to shoot a music video for one of the singles appearing on my latest album, Firefly. The album, along with my debut album, Getting Ready to Fly, both continue to be purchased and downloaded by fans all over the world. We've seen downloads from people in countries like the United States, France, Japan, Italy, Brazil, and many others. At one point, Getting Ready to Fly even tied a record by holding the #1 spot on The European and International Independent Artist Chart for twelve weeks!
All the songs appearing on Firefly are originals and I want to send out a special thank you to my producer in Nashville, Dean Miller, as well as the musicians who played on it. The fiddle player on the album is Blake Shelton's fiddler, Jenee Fleenor. Amazing work by everybody involved.
You can check out the music on iTunes, Spotify, Google Music, Rhapsody, and right here on my website!
Of course, there is more going on than just music. I spent part of the summer traveling from Texas to New Hampshire to visit with family and friends (Lake Winipesaukee was AMAZING). I turned 17 back in June and will be a junior in high school. Back to school means back to running cross country and playing basketball while juggling songwriting, voice lessons, and guitar lessons. Plus, I've been singing in church and waiting to go on tour after high school.
My basketball team took part in some cool tournaments over the summer, including one at Texas A&M down in College Station. I certainly don't consider myself an Aggie but it was such a neat experience to get to meet members of the college's girls basketball team. One of them liked our team and was cheering for us during the tournament.
So that is what I've been up to! I would love to hear what some of you did over the summer and what you are hoping to do by the end of the year. Don't be shy about replying to this email and filling me in!
I love all of my fans so much!
